When our daughter was around 8 years old, she invited over a few friends for the day to do some crafting with us. Since it was the beginning of November, we decided to make a Thanksgiving holiday garland.
This project can be done in one afternoon. If you are doing several of them at a time (group project), I suggest precutting all of the fabric strips ahead of time.
1 roll of sisal twine (2 or 3 ply for durability)
scraps of homespun fabrics
all-purpose craft glue (or glue gun with the supervision of adults)
Acorns, twigs, pine cones, dried pods
Scissors
Step 1: Measure the length of sisal twine, you need to make your wreath. We usually have 3 to 4 meters. Cut it off the roll. Tie each end into a loop in this way, if you can hang it, you can easily do it through the loops.
Step 2: Collect homespun rags or various drop-printed fabrics. We want to use 4 different until 6 prints and / or colors. You want to cut strips that measureabout 1 "wide and 4" long, or as long as you like. I cut out in typically 50 to 75 of these strips, when I make a garland.
Step 3: Lay out your sisal yarn across the floor. Take your tapes and put them in front of the sisal rope and alternate your colors and prints. Have the children sit on the floor in order to do this part of the project. You want to commit all the strips of fabric on the cord until your wreath is full. There are no right or wrong way to do this. You canHer wreath as full or as sparse as you want.
Step 4: Take a nice walk outside and collect some fall on natural products, such as cones (small and medium enterprises), acorns, dried pods, twigs, pieces of bark, etc. Once you have collected your items You want to stick to more of them onto your wreath. I like the area to ensure they dry out about every 6 "or so. Let your project for a few hours to get that all the parts are firmly adhered to.
Now that yourWreath was placed, you can decide where to hang. I like seeing them hanging on a coat on a door or a staircase.
Optional: If you do not want to decorate objects found in nature, your new crown, you can buy your local crafts and fall or thanksgiving items to stick it to you.
